Installing OS/2:Installation of the Internet Connection and Netscape Navigator |
The IBM Internet Connection software provides SLIP support for dial-up TCP/IP
connections. It is presented in such a way as to encourage you to use the IBM Global
Network internet service, but it is easily configured to support other internet service
providers. I use IGN anyway, so I followed that path. As soon as you've got the software
configured, I'd advise connecting and downloading at the latest software, which includes a
much more up-to-date list of connection numbers for IGN subscribers.
I just set it up as a generic 2400 baud modem, with an extra X3M0 (for blind
dial & mute) on the initialisation string, and it worked fine. I added in a modem
entry for this so I could easily swap between the internal modem and an external modem at
work.
