Installing Windows 3.1
onto the IBM PalmTop PC110

Introduction

Windows 3.1 is probably the best balance of speed vs. features for those who find Windows 95 too slow on the PC110. It's also very happy to sit on a smaller hard drive - I keep a 40MB PCMCIA drive with DOS and Windows 3.1 on it, for a failsafe e-mail configuration (running Internet Explorer 3.02).

The only real downside is that you step back six years in ease of configuration. Sure, Windows 3.1 is easy enough, but it sits on top of your DOS configuration, which can be tricky to get right. You should always make sure your DOS installation is in good health and meets your driver requirements before trying to configure Windows 3.1 - check out the DOS installation tips here. You will probably find that your DOS configuration requirements are different when running Windows, so you'll either want to add a CONFIG.SYS menu to your flash drive DOS install, or install a separate copy of DOS on the drive you'll use for Windows. I'd recommend the latter if you can - it keeps things simple.
